The 7000 series aluminum alloy is composed of aluminum, zinc and magnesium. In addition, there is an another series - aluminum zinc magnesium copper series with additional copper. The strength grade of the aluminum-zinc-magnesium series is about 400 Mpa, featuring medium-high strength, heat-treatable, anodized, and weldable. The strength grade of the aluminum-zinc-magnesium-copper series is about 600 Mpa. It is characterized by high strength, heat-treatable, and anodic-treated, but the disadvantages are poor welding performance and corrosion resistance. Product uses are mainly applied in sports equipment, aviation industry (such as 7075, 7050); structure and welding materials, car body, carriage (such as 7005), etc.
Commonly used 7000 series alloys are:
7005 series (aluminum zinc magnesium): 7003 7005 7006 7020 7046 7021 7N01
7075 series (aluminum zinc magnesium copper): 7001 7010 7049 7050 7055 7075 7149 7150 7168 7175
